Whereas, Schedule 15 of Bill 68 allows Ford’s Conservatives to seize control of Exhibition Place under the Rebuilding Ontario Place Act; and
Whereas, Exhibition Place is home to the CNE, the Royal Winter Fair, and BMO Field; and
Whereas, the Rebuilding Ontario Place Act allows Ford’s Conservatives to override provincial and municipal laws, including heritage protections, environmental safeguards, and labour laws; and
Whereas, Ford’s Conservatives have a track record that raises serious concerns about their willingness to sell off or privatize public spaces.
Therefore we, the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to:
Remove Schedule 15 from Bill 68, repeal the Rebuilding Ontario Place Act, and cancel the deal with Therme at Ontario Place.
