TO THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF ONTARIO:
WHEREAS Bill 5 creates “Special Economic Zones” where the Ford government can violate any municipal or provincial law; and
WHEREAS Bill 5 disrespects Treaty rights and threatens critical land and water by gutting protections for archaeological sites and endangered species in the province; and
WHEREAS the Ford government is using Bill 5 to build the megaspa at Ontario Place, even though the project likely violates environmental laws; and
WHEREAS Bill 5 overrides the rule of law, a fundamental principle of democratic government.
THEREFORE we, the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to:
Repeal Bill 5 immediately and restore the rule of law in Ontario.
