Background: Like 208 cyclists in Toronto last year, I was doored. In the fall of 2017, as a member fo the Board of Health I brought a motion asking the city to take safety measures to reduce the number of doorings. The motion recommended: mandatory training for Uber and other vehicle-for-hire driverschanges to the Highway Traffic Act to make drivers partly responsible when passengers door a cyclistteaching the “Dutch Reach” to all new drivers as a safe way to open a car door I am working with CycleTO to bring make sure the recommendations are adopted by the city.
